Job Summary for Workers’ Compensation Claims Administrator:
Supervise Workers’ Compensation claim file development on assigned claims. Provide direction, feedback, and suggestions on individual claims to claims managers/supervisors and other team members. Oversee files handled by Third-Party Administrators (TPAs).
Primary Responsibilities for Workers’ Compensation Claims Administrator:
- Offer expertise on workers’ compensation claim litigation management, including reserving and settlements.
- Engage in conference calls with outside counsel to develop claim-specific action plans.
- Interpret policy terms, tort and contract law principles, workers’ compensation laws, and procedures.
- Oversee claim file handling by communicating with claims managers/supervisors and other personnel, including TPAs.
- Ensure adherence to company procedures and guidelines in claim handling, following fair claim practices acts and relevant laws.
- Provide timely and accurate advice to management on job-related matters.
- Travel as needed for claim file reviews, attending mediations, trials, and strategy conferences.
- Guide claims personnel on handling practices and techniques.
- Take on special assignments as directed by management.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications for Workers’ Compensation Claims Administrator:
- Minimum 10 years of experience in:
- Workers’ Compensation claims handling/supervision.
- Coverage Review: statements, authorizations, retaining counsel and experts.
- Managed Care and Cost Containment.
- FROIs & SROIs: Knowledge of state-specific indemnity EDI reporting requirements.
- Medicare Set Aside Arrangements and CMS Compliance.
- Claims Administration: Knowledge of laws and procedures for multiple states.
- Service-oriented with a commitment to providing efficient and effective claims and customer service.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong working relationships.
- Prior insurance experience preferred.
- Clear and effective communication skills, both orally and in writing.
- Excellent time management and multitasking abilities.
- Ability to complete time-sensitive tasks under pressure.
- Proven negotiation skills.
- Excellent judgment and decision-making abilities.
