Primary Responsibilities:
Our Client is seeking a talented Compliance Analyst II to assist their SVP of Compliance and Secretary by taking on the day-to-day responsibilities in the following areas. You will ensure proper documentation and escalate issues to your supervisor as necessary:
- Team Collaboration & Coaching:
- Collaborate daily with junior staff, providing guidance on routine matters. Identify and escalate more complex issues as needed.
- SERFF Filings:
- Manage start-to-finish SERFF filings (form, rate, informational, and others). Responsibilities include:
- Researching and understanding regulations and competitor products.
- Educating key stakeholders.
- Coordinating responses and addressing objections.
- Revising forms and gathering supporting documents.
- Tracking project progress.
- Complaint Management:
- Handle consumer, regulatory, and other complaints by:
- Researching applicable laws and regulations.
- Interpreting contract language and drafting complex responses.
- Ensuring uniformity in responses to similar issues and maintaining complaint logs.
- Investigations:
- Support both regulatory and internal investigations.
- Industry Tools Utilization:
- Use industry tools and resources (e.g., ACLI, NAIC) to:
- Set up monitoring systems.
- Track and implement legal and regulatory changes affecting the company.
- Advertising System Management:
- Review and approve routine advertising pieces, manage regulatory filings, and maintain advertising files. Learn and customize the system to enhance user experience while ensuring compliance.
- Regulatory Exams:
- Manage the day-to-day operations of regulatory exams.
- Product Administration:
- Assist in the rollout of new products, update forms, and maintain the product catalog.
- Contract Administration:
- Research, advise, and draft or revise applicable legal forms. Handle third-party subpoenas, levies, liens, and garnishments, while ensuring proper follow-up.
Assisting Responsibilities:
You will also assist the SVP of Compliance and Secretary with the following tasks:
- Auditing third-party administrators.
- Handling suitability reviews.
- Preparing holding company filings.
- Drafting the compliance report for quarterly business reviews, ensuring consistency.
- Maintaining and improving departmental filing systems.
- Taking on special projects as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
- 5+ years of legal or compliance experience in the insurance industry.
- Advanced knowledge and passion for the life insurance industry.
- Demonstrable experience with SERFF, NAIC, I-File systems, and other state-based regulatory systems.
- Proven ability to monitor, understand, and apply laws, statutes, and regulations.
- Proficiency in using Westlaw and the internet for legal and regulatory research.
- Proficiency with general software (Microsoft Office, PDF, and communication systems).
- Knowledge of insurance product administration systems and state-based regulatory systems.
- Relevant insurance-related industry designations.

- Strong multitasking skills and ability to handle multiple projects and commitments.
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative attitude.
- Ability to work independently, take personal initiative, and learn new functional areas.
- Experience performing a range of tasks, from routine administrative duties to more complex projects, with the ability to train junior staff.
- Knowledge of and ability to audit policy files and procedures.
