Education Requirements:  Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Math, Statistics or other related area.
Other Requirements:  Include:

  • Experience:
    • Minimum ASA with progress towards FSA and MAAA preferred.
    • 7 to 10 years of experience in financial reporting within a life insurance entity required.
    • Prior use of MoSes and other actuarial reporting systems.
  • Skills and Abilities:
    • Able to perform in a fast-paced M&A environment.
    • Must have strong analytical skills which can be translated into management/deal presentations.
    • Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, and presentation skills.

Salary Range:  $220k to $230k base + 30% bonus and 30% LTI
Description:  This is one of the many actuary jobs Mid America Search has. This actuary job is titled VP Actuary - Corporate Development. This individual, in this actuary job, will serve as an integral part of the Corporate Development team, originating and executing on possible whole company and block acquisitions, potential business partnerships and alternative distribution relationships.  The successful individual will have experience closely following the US Life and Annuity sector, GAAP and Stat financial statements and a strong modelling background.  It is expected, to be successfu in this particular actuary job, that this individual will lead valuation and financial analysis of potential transactions, working closely with senior leadership and other members of the Corporate Development, Actuarial and Finance teams.  This job will report to the SVP of Strategy & Corporate Development.  Will have significant interaction with deal teams, executive management, external parties, etc.  In this actuary job the Candidate may direct the work of others but initially will have no direct reports.  Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Leading valuation workstream on M&A deals, working closely with internal and external resources.
  • Assessing actuarial due diligence topics and their possible impact on deal structuring and valuation.
  • Working closely with Actuarial and Finance teams to measure transaction impact from a GAAP and Stat financial perspective.
  • Assisting in the preparation of internal and external materials related to transactions.
