Responsibilities for Actuarial Analyst
- Primarily, you will collaborate with the Actuarial Department to deliver comprehensive analysis, data mining, and reporting for life insurance, supplemental health (Med Supp, Critical Illness, Accident), and annuity lines of business.
- Subsequently, you will work with the quarterly reserve process, which necessitates collecting data from diverse sources and formulating reports to share with accountants, state insurance departments, and the IRS.
- Handle, merge, query, and scrutinize large data sets.
- Also, systematically organize and maintain the Actuarial Department’s electronic filing system.
Duties for Actuarial Analyst
- Under the careful guidance of our actuaries, you will conduct persistency and mortality studies.
- In addition, you will audit various system data routinely to uncover current and future potential issues.
- Equally important is your role in preparing the Quarterly Division notebooks meticulously, which showcase management reports of our Client’s various marketing divisions.
- Furthermore, you will work in tandem with the actuary in charge to ensure the accurate and timely execution of the quarterly reserve process.
- As part of your role, you will also review and analyze extensive data sets, aptly answering related queries and creating insightful visualizations.
- Lastly, but just as importantly, documenting your work and work processes will be an essential part of your role, ensuring our Client maintains a collaborative environment.
Skills for Actuarial Analyst
- You should possess excellent math skills, evidenced, for example, by the completion of 2 semesters of college calculus.
- Ability to demonstrate outstanding organizational skills and a keen attention to detail.
- A college degree in Math, Data Science, Management Information Systems, or a related field is a prerequisite.
- Demonstrable proficiency in financial data analysis and reporting is expected.
- You should have prior experience in data manipulation/mining.
- Familiarity with auditing processes is also required.
- Lastly, proficiency in MS Windows, MS Excel, SQL, VBA, R or Python, coupled with experience working with different file formats and data transfer, is necessary.
Additional Requirements for Actuarial Analyst
- You should have successfully completed at least 2 actuarial exams.
- An ability to multitask, (i.e., manage multiple projects concurrently), is crucial.
- Lastly, our Client expects you to have a knack for identifying and solving problems, organizing/documenting tasks to facilitate future tasks, and fostering collaboration.
